Most people never open their electrical panel. And honestly, that's fine - that's what we're here for. But what's not fine is when someone does open it and leaves things worse than they found them. That's exactly what we ran into here.
During an inspection, we found a breaker that had been installed incorrectly. On top of that, the terminal was over-tightened - enough to actually damage the wire insulation. To most people, that sounds minor. To us, it's a red flag. A damaged wire at a breaker terminal is the kind of thing that quietly causes problems over time. Heat buildup, arcing, potential failure. None of it shows up until it does, and by then it's usually a bigger deal than it needed to be.
This is exactly why a thorough electrical inspection matters. It's not just about checking whether things are on or off. It's about catching the stuff that looks fine on the surface but isn't. We go through every breaker, every connection, every wire landing. If something was done wrong, we find it and fix it the right way.
We take panel work seriously - whether it's a repair, a full electrical panel replacement, or just troubleshooting a weird issue someone's been ignoring. The work has to be clean, correct, and safe. There's no cutting corners when you're dealing with the thing that powers your entire home.
If your panel hasn't been looked at in a while, or if you've had work done and something still feels off, it's worth having someone take a proper look. Mistakes in a panel don't fix themselves.
